The Oyster Inn, Butley

400 years of warm welcomes and real ale on the Suffolk Heritage Coast

The Oyster Inn at Butley is a traditional village pub serving fine ale and simple home-style pub food. Sitting next to Rendlesham Forest and on the road to Orford, it is a perfect staging post for cyclists, walkers, birdwatchers and anyone exploring the Suffolk Heritage Coast.

Rob and Tracy offer a warm welcome to families and dogs, and look forward to seeing you in this iconic Suffolk pub that reopened in 2017 after a complete restoration.

The pub has a lovely stretch of old barns in the back garden. Planning permission has been awarded to convert the barns into a micro brewery, a holiday let, a games/cinema room and a village shop. The works are due to be completed in July 2017.

In the meantime, our back field is available for overflow car parking and we have installed a safe temporary wall to surround the barns so that we didn’t have to postpone the pub’s opening.
